Losing Pride
A reflection on how pride becomes an obstacle in our path. Unknown to me and as a pleasant surprise, someone presented this poem to my Guru back in 2022 and he had appreciated it.
I lost my pride of wit After meeting your eyes Which held a wisdom Untold to the wise
I lost my pride of courage After touching your feet, Those lotus feet that bled Among thorny thickets
I lost my pride of beauty For all beauty pales, Before your ethereal light That lightless light
I lost my pride of name After you embraced me As your own, I was Nobody but You
Pride died for love A rosy sweetness, An innocent longing, Spoken in whispers
I loved the way I loved you, so deep So pure, untainted Unconditional
But once again This lofty pride Seeps through, Uninvited
How can I love you enough The one who is love The lover and The beloved
I lost my pride of love That too, did die When you smiled at me And took me home
